In the middle of the night last night, the wind kicked up and I could hear the it rearranging the patio furniture and banging on the metal shutters. It wasn't raining at that point, so I got outside at 2 am to corral the furniture and batten down the. hatches (fasten the shutters closed!). This morning, as the wind continued to gust up to 38 mph, the patio furniture continued to skid around, and one table was liberated to the shores outside the patio. And rain started up. A good day to stay inside!
Unbelievably, at sunset, as the rain stopped and the wind continued, there were a few hardy souls being blown around on the trail in front of my house, clearly determined to hike. Most people, like me, clearly found something else to do.
It was a good day to paint color wheels and mix paint, and do a little still life with the materials I had on hand -- oranges.

I love the oranges…the peel looks real!
